Marketing my Music through Radios
I’m a local musician. I own a local popular band which has seen its growth through the power of radio communication. My band has been contacted by various organization as well as government department to create awareness in different field for almost two years. We have also managed to attend many concerts all over the country as we promote our music as well as entertain reveler during special occasions as well as in nightclubs for some time now.
It never used to be so when I started out. As a matter of fact, I had a very shaky background. I almost quit music after producing my first two albums which back then were very unsuccessful though today, they have been appreciated by thousands of listeners.
Like I said, my start was quiet dark. My first album was a complete let down. After producing it, I tried marketing it through various methods by managed to sell a few hundred copies, not enough even to cover the cost that I had incurred. Since it was my first try, I never gave up but decided to soldier on.
A year later, my second album was out. I had learnt a lot from the initial release of my first album, and I made sure that this other one would get at least some air play in radio stations as opposed to what happened in my initial album. However, that was not the case. Actually it turned out to be disastrous like my first. I would guess that it was even worse given the efforts that I invested in it.
Quitting is never the Best Solution if You Still Can Stay
When I realized that my music was not liked, I felt like quitting. Nothing I did resulted in positive promotion of my music. My manager quit as well as two member of my band. They kind of felt that I wasn’t going to make it and wasn’t even at a position to help them grow. There was barely enough to even pay them for the sacrifices that they made in the production.
A month after the release of the album, I met a guy in a local bar. I never knew him, but he recognized me from the few concerts that I had managed to secure in several downtown bars. That day I had a bad mood because of what was happening in my music career such that no matter what he tried to chat me about wasn’t useful.
Realizing my predicament, he tried to raise my spirit by praising my music to no avail. I was about to leave, when he called me. I could have ignored him but decided otherwise. His call was my start to another successful journey in my career. He talked to me about arranging an interview with his friend who was a presenter at a local popular station. He never minced his words as he encouraged me to give it a try. That was a step that he didn’t have to undergo, because from his suggestion, I felt that something was in store for me. He promised to help pitch the meeting and we parted ways after I had his contact.
Radios have Power In Making you Realize your Dreams
Two days later he called me and told me that his request had been granted. The following week, I was in the studio with a popular radio host who had a great following in his show. He interviewed me, we discussed and I had the opportunity to play some of my song in my new album as well as two from my previous one.
The response that I later got from the audience was very encouraging as they praised me for my song. That afternoon as I left the studio, I felt some sense of motivation. I felt that I had really lost my track. That was very true because for the next weeks, I had most of my music receiving airplay not just from that radio station but from others as well. I also received numerous invitations from showbiz promoters and most of the deals were very profitable. That how I found my way back to the music scene, a much rejuvenated musician who till now enjoys massive popularity.
